David de Gea set for Manchester United exit

David de Gea

Manchester United are set to dismiss Spanish international David de Dea after 12 years at the club.

The veteran goalkeeper’s contract in Manchester expires at the end of June, with United holding a 12-month extension option.

Erik ten Hag has kept De Gea as No. 1, but the Dutch coach is rumored to be hunting for a successor as De Gea nears the end of his contract.

The 32-year-old has had his ups and downs in English football, including a Premier League title in his second season with the club and two Premier League Golden Glove medals, including one in 2022/23.

However, his United career has also been marred by high-profile gaffes and criticism, with ten Hag now looking to put an end to the problem and allow de Gea to go on.

According to the Daily Mirror, de Gea’s refusal to accept a pay cut from his current £375,000-a-week contract played a crucial role in the decision, after he was left off the club’s retained squad list for next season.
