El Hijo del Vikingo defeats Kenny Omega at AAA Triplemania Tijuana

El Hijo del Vikingo is the current AAA Mega Champion.

On Saturday, he fought Kenny Omega in the main event of AAA Triplemania Tijuana to retain his title. Vikingo took a clean victory with a poisonrana from the turnbuckle and a 630 senton. To close the show, the two hugged and Vikingo celebrated in the ring.

Originally, Don Callis was supposed to be in Vikingo’s corner during the bout. However, before the fight could begin, Konnan entered the ring and ordered Callis to leave the ringside area.


The two have a 1-1 tie in their head-to-head series.Omega defeated Vikingo earlier this year on the 3/22 AEW Dynamite in a bout that our own Dave Meltzer scored five stars.

Vikingo vs. Omega in AAA was initially slated for December 4, 2021 at Triplemana Regia II under Omega’s reign with the Mega Championship. However, Omega stated just weeks before the show that he was pulling out and vacating the title due to a slew of ailments.


The Guerra de Rivalidades tournament match had an exciting ending on Saturday’s broadcast from Tijuana as well. Rush, who appeared to leave the promotion last month, paired up with LA Park to take on Sam Adonis and Psycho Clown. After both Adonis and Rush scored pins, the bout was declared a draw. Because the losing team was supposed to face each other in a mask vs. hair contest on August 12, they will now all meet in a four-way bout on that night.

QT Marshall and Pentagon Jr. got into a brutal ambulance fight. Aaron Solo used a fire extinguisher to spray Penta, allowing Marshall to strike him with a light tube and a cutter before sealing him in the ambulance.

Despite suffering a broken hand in his loss to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 290, former UFC Flyweight Champion Brandon Moreno was in Team Baja’s corner. He participated in the finish by putting Daga in an arm bar.

Former Mega Champion Texano Jr. also made his return to the promotion after a two-year absence. He appeared wearing a Taurus mask and attacked Pagano. After being unmasked, Texano released a promo claiming that he and Taurus are the new Mercenarios and that he was behind the previous attacks on Pagano.
