Former Clippers Guard Named Possible Option for Knicks

This former Los Angeles Clippers guard could be a candidate for the New York Knicks.

Former Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley was one of three sleeper free agents mentioned by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley in a recent piece.

Beverley signed with his hometown Chicago Bulls for the remainder of the season after being moved from the Los Angeles Lakers and bought out by the Orlando Magic. Beverley helped guide Chicago to the play-in round, but with that being their only success, many believe the Bulls must rebuild.

If the Bulls do not intend to compete next season, Beverley would be wise to sign elsewhere, since the veteran guard would not fit in a rebuilding club. According to Buckley’s piece, the Knicks may be an excellent fit for both parties.

“If Beverley just rediscovers his range touch—33.9 percent the last two seasons, 39.3 percent the previous six seasons—he could be a tone-setting defender who won’t dominate the basketball but will convert a lot of the clean looks he gets,” Buckley wrote.

While Beverley’s shooting numbers have dropped in the last two seasons, he remains a great defender with a long history of being a capable three-point shooter. This type of player would complement New York’s ball-dominant players, which is why Beverley could be a viable free-agent choice for the Knicks.
