Levi Colwill offered new contract at Chelsea
According to an exclusive story by Nizaar Kinsella in the Evening Standard, Chelsea has offered Levi Colwill a new contract.
Understandably, he is unsure whether he would sign it yet – he has to know what his role in the squad will be, which is subject to discussions with Mauricio Pochettino, whose official duty begins tomorrow. Some players are due to return for pre-season on Monday, although Colwill will take an extended holiday after being called up for England’s June international fixtures.
The center defender has had two outstanding loans in succession and is eager to discover if he will play a significant role for the Blues. There is stiff competition at center defense, but with Benoit Badiashile slated to lose time due to an injury sustained earlier this summer, Colwill could get his shot right away.
🚨 Exclusive: Levi Colwill has been offered a new long-term deal at Chelsea.
It’s a good offer but he won’t sign anything until he speaks to Pochettino, needing assurances on his squad role.

The start of this season will thus be a fantastic opportunity to show him that he is in line for plenty of minutes and thus convince him to stick on for the long term.
Similarly, if he sits on the bench even with Badiashile out, it will reinforce his suspicions that he will not be able to play as often as he wants or needs to continue his growth.
Our next friendlies, as well as the competitive games that will begin the season, will be essential for Colwill’s future – we can only hope he is utilised properly.
