Marcus Rashford made an awkward mistake in his farewell post to teammate David De Gea.
It was reported earlier today that the veteran goalkeeper will quit the club after his contract expires at the end of June.
The club initially offered him a new contract with lower pay but withdrew the offer, much to the player’s astonishment.
As a result, the Spaniard has left the club after 12 years and 545 appearances for the Red Devils.
Several players voiced their regret at the departure of a long-time teammate. Bruno Fernandes was the first to comment, criticizing the club for letting him depart. On his Instagram story, he wrote:
“You deserved to say goodbye at the stadium with all the fans cheering you for all the beautiful memories.”
Marcus Rashford also posted a farewell message to De Gea on Instagram, but he made an unfortunate mistake.
His Instagram post, which was later altered, stated: “Caption Ideas: You were present throughout my breakthrough; best of luck with your next stepbrother.”
Rashford has already been accused of using ChatGPT to create his social media postings, and some supporters believe this proves them correct.
