Messi expected to make final decision in 48 hours, Al-Hilal making one final push

Barcelona’s feasibility plan is still caught on the La Liga conveyer belt of diplomacy, preventing the club from moving forward with signings for the 2023 summer transfer window.

The Catalans have a list of targets they wish to sign, some of whom have a huge list of rivals. Lionel Messi is the undisputed leader of this list.

The Argentine has already played his farewell game for PSG and will shortly go for a new challenge. While he expects to join Barcelona, their domestic struggle with La Liga has caused the operation to be postponed indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Messi does not want to be kept waiting for too long, as he did two seasons ago when he departed Barcelona on a free transfer despite having agreed to a contract extension.

According to Toni Juanmarti (h/t Reshad Rahman), he will make a decisive choice on his future in the following 48 hours. Al-Hilal is making one more push to persuade Messi, who is said to have forgotten about their offer.

Inter Miami is still interested in Leo and is confident in their offer since the Messi family appears eager to settle in Miami for the foreseeable future.

As previously reported, two Premier League clubs, Newcastle United and Chelsea, are also interested in signing him, but they appear to be low on the priority list for the 35-year-old.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is doing everything it can to put pressure on and persuade Messi. Xavi has spoken out about his return several times, including during the pre-game news conference for Celta Vigo vs. Barcelona.

“The priorities are very clear. I would really like Messi to return, I have spoken with him, and I have already said that it depends on him. From here, apart from Leo, the other priority is a pivot. That would be the ideal scenario.”

“I’m not responsible for the financial issue. I only know that Messi would help us a lot in terms of football,” he added.
