Newcastle closing in on €70m target who looks set to land massive six-year deal
Newcastle United is closing in on AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, with talks regarding a €70 million deal in the final stages.
The Athletic claimed on Wednesday that the Magpies were close to reaching an agreement with Milan to buy the Italy international for a sum in the region of €70 million.
Fabrizio Romano is now stating that the agreement is nearing completion, with the next phase of negotiations centered on the €70 million fee – such as add-ons and contract structure.
Tonali will sign a contract until June 2029 if the transfer is completed, and he will earn €8 million every season at St. James’ Park.

Tonali is rumored to be Newcastle United’s main target to boost Eddie Howe’s midfield ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League. The Magpies manager will aim to bring in another midfielder before the transfer window closes in order to form a lethal trio with Bruno Guimaraes.
According to The Athletic, the 23-year-old was also desired by Chelsea, but it appears like Newcastle are ready to get their man, signaling to the rest of the Premier League that they have arrived at the top table.
