Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes was recently captured on tape laughing with Lucas Paqueta, a player with whom the club has been linked.
The Magpies have long been interested in signing the excellent West Ham midfielder.
However, they have now signed Sandro Tonali from AC Milan as their first marquee signing of the summer.
Tonali’s arrival will improve the team’s midfield options.
Guimaraes and Paqueta exchanged cordial words during the Copa do Brasil Quarter Final between their former clubs, Flamengo and Atletico-PR.
Flamengo, Paqueta’s former club, came out on top with a 2-1 victory.
Paqueta took advantage of the situation by sarcastically taunting Guimaraes about the outcome and cheekily asking if he had been following the game.
Guimaraes responded with a lighthearted warning, reminding Paqueta that there was still one leg to play.
The two players have a close bond and a history together, having played together at Lyon.
Newcastle United is still looking for reinforcements for their roster as they prepare for their upcoming Champions League campaign.
If Newcastle were to make a move for Paqueta in the future, their tight relationship would be a major reason.
