OFFICIAL: Jordi Alba leaves Barca at the end of the season

At the conclusion of the 2022–2023 season, Jordi Alba will no longer be a member of FC Barcelona’s first team. The L’Hospitalet player, who had lost a lot of his significance when Xavi Hernandez joined the bench, has decided not to wear the FC Barcelona jersey any longer and is seeking out new experiences outside of Camp Nou.

As a result, Jordi Alba will depart Barça after eleven years with the first squad. The left-back joined in the 2012–2013 campaign from Valencia and required little adaptation to take the starting spot without question for more than ten years. Captain was an integral part of the club’s most significant victories in recent memory, including Luis Enrique’s treble. Now the player’s contract’s final season must be worked out between the organization and the player.

Jordi Alba made the decision to share an emotional video on his Instagram account to announce his leaving, just like Busquets did in his heyday. He considered his finest moments when playing for Barça.

FC Barcelona has lost two of the ambassadors of a heyday in Barça’s history with the departure of Alba and Sergio Busquets. We will always remember Leo Messi’s diagonal passes for the Hospitalet native’s low crosses in the back.

Jordi Alba had ceased to be a regular at left-back this season with the rise of Alejandro Balde into the Barça first team and the passing of time. He has done a good job of filling his position in recent months, but he has made the decision to leave after the election.
