OFFICIAL: Skelly Alvero joins Lyon from Sochaux

Skelly Alvero

Skelly Alvero (21) of FC Sochaux Montbéliard has officially joined Lyon on a five-year contract, the club confirmed. The Franco-Angolan is the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window. The Ligue 1 club will pay a €4 million transfer fee, plus an additional €1 million in potential bonuses. Sochaux will receive 10% of Alvero’s eventual resale price. Lyon’s transfer incomings are being scrutinized by the DNCG, French football’s financial authority. The DNCG appears to have approved Alvero’s relocation to Lyon.

The 6’8″ midfielder is expected to provide much-needed muscle to Laurent Blanc’s side. Last March, Alvero was named Ligue 2’s best breakout player. He was born on May 4, 2002, the same day when Olympique Lyonnais won their first Ligue 1 title. “I’m thrilled to be joining the club today,” Alvero remarked. “I’m excited to play with my teammates.” OL are a huge club with aspirations, but they were out of position last season. I’m here with the hope of restoring it to its rightful place.”

According to L’Équipe, Alvero will be joined this summer by another defensive midfielder, Renato Tapia from Celta Vigo.
