He was initially brought in as a last-minute loan signing from Newcastle United in January 2018, and he was a key player in Fulham’s most recent promotion campaigns. In the summer of 2018, a permanent transfer was agreed upon for £22 million, with a potential increase to £27 million.

On September 16, 1994, in Smederevo, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia, Aleksandar Mitrovic was born. Mitrovic is a young product of Partizan.

All-time Career of Aleksandar Mitrovic

Fulham (2018-present)

On the day of the transfer deadline on January 31, 2018, Aleksandar joined the team in a last-minute loan arrangement. When Anderlecht failed to sell another player in time to fund the move, Aleksandar took a flight back to England and quickly agreed to a contract with the Whites for the remainder of the season. He had been in Belgium and was about to rejoin his old team on loan.

On February 21, 2018, at Ashton Gate, he scored his first goal for Fulham in a 1-1 draw with Bristol City. Three days later, at Craven Cottage, he sealed a 2-0 victory over league leaders Wolves.

He continued to score goals, eventually scoring 12 goals in 17 league games. His goals and Fulham’s performance secured the club’s return to the Premier League, and on May 26, 2018, a victory in the Play-off Final at Wembley Stadium guaranteed promotion.

Aleksandar was acquired permanently after the 2018 World Cup in Russia for a reported fee of £22 million; on July 30, 2018, that sum increased to £27 million. Aleksandar managed to score an impressive 11 Premier League goals despite the club having a terrible season that resulted in them being dropped right back to the Championship.

He signed a new 5-year contract with Fulham, committing to the club for the foreseeable future while denying rumors that he would leave for a bigger club in the summer of 2019, saying he loved playing for the team and living in London. He once again assisted Fulham in winning promotion back to the Premier League through the Play-Offs, scoring a remarkable 26 league goals in the process.

Aleksandar would experience a complete goal drought after appearing to resume his goal-scoring form for the 2020–21 season following a brace in a 4–3 loss away to Leeds United. His self-assurance was further dented during the season while serving on the international team when he missed a penalty that would have prevented Serbia from beating Scotland and earning a spot in the upcoming European Championships. In the remainder of the Fulham season under Scott Parker, he scored just one more goal, and the team was once more relegated.

He scored what might be considered one of the funniest goals in Fulham history in the second week of the 2021–22 season back in the Championship. He slipped to the ground while chasing down a poor goalkeeper clearance in the opening goal of a 5-1 drubbing at Huddersfield. The ball struck him as it slowly looped into the empty net, giving him his first goal of the year. Aleksandar eventually found his scoring touch again, scoring all three goals in the first half of victories over Swansea City (3-1 at home) and West Bromwich Albion (3-0) to help his team regain the top spot in the table.

Aleksandar became just the second Fulham player to ever score two first-half hat-tricks in a single season (after Arthur Rowley in 1948–49) on January 15, 2022, during a 6-2 thrashing of Bristol City at Craven Cottage. When he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Hull City on February 12, 2022, he tied Ivan Toney’s record of 31 goals scored in the Championship during a single season. He very quickly broke the mark and went on to tie the club record set by Frank Newton in 1931–1922 by scoring an astounding 43 league goals for the 2021–2022 season.

He scored both goals for Fulham in a 2-2 draw with Liverpool on the first day of the 2022–23 season, earning him man of the match honors. A few weeks later, Aleksandar scored in a 2-1 loss at Arsenal to become the eighth player in Fulham history to reach 100 goals.

On March 19, 2023, while Man Utd was losing 3-1 at home in the FA Cup, he was given a straight red card for pushing referee Chris Kavanagh’s shoulder. This was in response to Willian receiving a second straight red card after giving up a penalty.
