Ben Nguyen was born on August 3, 1988, in  Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States of America. He is of American nationality.

 To build his career in MMA, he went to Thailand and enrolled in Tiger Muay Thai and MMA Scholar-Athlete program. He later switched his base to Australia.

His achievements include being the Nitro Bantamweight champion, K-Oz Bantamweight Champion, and being declared the No. 1 Bantamweight in Australia. As of 2018, he has ranked #13 flyweight in the official ranking of UFC.

The American MMA athlete later took on Ryan Benoit at UFC 193 on November 15, 2015, and won with a submission hold.

Later, he was expected to face Joseph Benavidez at UFC Night 110 which took place on June 11, 2017, but to an injury sustained by Joseph Benavidez, he took on Tim Elliot as a replacement.

He won the match with a submission from a rear naked choke hold during the first round of the bout. The match also earned him his first Performance of the Night Award and got $50,000 as an additional amount.

Nguyen’s next fight is to be against Wilson  Reis which is expected to take place at UFC Fight Night 142 on December 2, 2018.
