Stacey began his career as an eight-year-old in Reading’s development system in 2004, before earning his first professional deal with the club on 10 December 2013 till the end of 2015-16. On 16 August 2014, he made his professional debut as a 90th-minute replacement for Jake Taylor in a 1-0 home win over Ipswich Town, and he concluded the season with six appearances. On October 19, 2015, Stacey signed a new deal with Reading that would keep him at the club until the summer of 2019.
Stacey joined League Two team Barnet on a short-term loan until December 26, 2015. He made his debut the next day, in a 4-2 loss to Notts County, and finished his loan term with just two games. Stacey joined League Two team Carlisle United on loan until the end of the 2015-16 season on March 24, 2016.
A day later, he made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Yeovil Town and scored his first goal in the next match, a 3-2 triumph at home against Bristol Rovers. His second goal for Carlisle came against Luton Town on April 19, when he scored a 61st-minute consolation goal to make it 2-1, and he finished the loan stay with nine games and two goals.
Stacey joined League Two team Exeter City on loan until January 23, 2017. Three days later, he made his debut in a 3-2 triumph over Colchester United. His loan was extended until the conclusion of the 2016-17 season on January 23, 2017, after he had made 19 appearances for Exeter up to that point in the season. He scored an injury-time winner in the second leg of the play-off semi-final triumph over Carlisle United, his old loan club, to make the score 6-5 in the global. At the end of 2019, the goal was selected as Exeter’s Goal of the Decade. Stacey appeared in the 2017 EFL League Two Play-off Final, which Exeter lost 2-1 to Blackpool at Wembley Stadium on May 28, 2017. He played 38 games and scored one goal during his loan.
He is currently playing for AFC Bournemouth.
