All-time Career of Jules Koundé


On January 7, 2018, Koundé made his first appearance for Bordeaux’s first team against US Granville in the round of 64 of the Coupe de France. He played the entire 90 minutes of regulation time and the entire 30 minutes of extra time. On January 13, 2018, he started for Bordeaux in a 1-0 victory away from home over Troyes in Ligue 1. It was Koundé’s first career Ligue 1 goal and his first competitive goal for Bordeaux’s first team on February 10, 2018, when Bordeaux defeated Amiens 3-2 at home.


He joined the Spanish club Sevilla on July 3, 2019. According to reports, Bordeaux received a transfer fee of €25 million. He was included in the UEFA Europa League team of the season in his first season with Sevilla, where he helped the team win the competition a record-tying sixth time.


Koundé’s transfer to Sevilla was announced by Barcelona as having taken place on July 29, 2022. Koundé missed Barcelona’s opening La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano because the team was unable to sign him because they were in violation of the league’s salary cap. For the same reason, he also skipped Barcelona’s second league game against Real Sociedad on August 21. On August 26, Kounde registered with La Liga, and two days later, in a 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid at Camp Nou, he made his official debut for the team.

International career

Koundé was chosen by Didier Deschamps on May 18, 2021, to be one of the 26 players who would make up the France national team for UEFA Euro 2020. On June 2, 2021, he made his professional debut against Wales in a friendly match, coming on as Benjamin Pavard’s replacement.

Koundé started France’s victory over Spain in the UEFA Nations League Final on October 10, 2021.
