The popular martial artist came to this world from his parents on Sunday, May 1st, 1994, in Chechnya. He was born into a middle-class Muslim family. According to his date of birth, Khamzat Chimaev’s age is 26 years old (as of 2020).

His real birth name is “Khamzat Hizarovitj Chimaev”. He does not disclose the names and professions of his parents to the media. He has a younger brother in the family named “Sweden Chimaev”. He is fond of sports since childhood.

In Sweden, Khamzat won the Swedish Freestyle National Championships in 2016 and 2017 in the 86kg category and 2018 in the 92kg category.

He began his MMA training in 2017 and made his amateur debut in the same year at Fight Club Rush 1 against Khaled Laallam. Chimaev won the fight in the second round via submission( D’arce Choke). Chimaev built on his debut victory momentum as he won his next 2-fights before turning professional in 2018.

Chimaev made his professional debut against Gard Olve Sagan at International Ring Fight Arena 14 and won the fight in the second round via TKO(punches) and won his next fight against Ole Magnor at Fight Club Rush 3 via first-round submission. Following this, he signed with BCF(Brave Combat Federation) in 2018.

Chimaev amassed a 4-fight win streak at BFC and got a title shot for the BCF Welterweight Championship against Jarrah Al-Sewale at Brave FC 27. However, due to COVID, the bout got canceled. After the cancellation, Chimaev decided to leave Brave CF and join the UFC in 2020.

Khamzat Chimaev made his UFC debut against John Phillips at UFC on ESPN 13: Kattar vs. Ige. Chimaev dominated Philips and submitted him in the second round via Brabo Choke to earn a Performance of the Night Bonus.

Chimaev fought his next fight 10 days after his promotional debut. He fought Rhys McKee at UFC on ESPN 14. Just like his first fight, Chimaev overwhelmed his opponent using his intensity and knocked him in the first round via TKO(punches).

He returned to the Octagon after 56 days to fight Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Fight Night 178. Chimaev in class Chimaev style dominated Gerlad and knocked him in 17 seconds.

Chimaev temporarily announced his retirement from the MMA in February 2021 due to his contracting COVID that led to some issues with his lungs. He later renounced his announcement and returned to the UFC in 2021 to face Jingliang Li at UFC 267. Khamzat outgunned Jiang and defeated him in the first round via technical submission.

Due to his dominating performance in his UFC fights, Khamzat currently has a total strike landed to absorbed ratio of 254:2.
