Merab Dvalishvili was born on January 10, 1991, in Tbilisi, Georgia. At an early age, he started training in Sambo and Judo for self-defense. At the age of 21, he moved to the United States to be a mixed martial artist.

Dvalishvili grew up in Tbilisi, Georgia. He started training in quartile chidaoba (traditional wrestling) and khridoli (transitional fighting), Sambo, and judo when he was young for self-defense and moved to the United States when he was 21 years old to become a professional MMA fighter. He trains under Ray Longo and Matt Serra.
