Spanish professional footballer Michael Dacosta González (born 5 March 2005) competes for English team AFC Bournemouth as a midfielder.
Dacosta started his career in the Alicante CF academy where he was raised in Alicante, Spain. When he was six years old, he was injured severely to his right foot in a car accident while riding on the back of his father’s motorcycle. He had to change his playing style and learn to favor his left foot because this was his stronger foot when he played football.

Before his parents decided to relocate to England, Dacosta left Alicante and joined Hercules. They made their home in London, where he played for a number of minor league teams before his family relocated once more to Portsmouth. While representing another youth team in Portsmouth, he was given the chance to try out for Bournemouth, who signed him after four weeks even though the trial was supposed to last six.
Dacosta adjusted well to his new team, particularly scoring twice for Bournemouth’s under-18 team in a 2-0 FA Youth Cup victory over Exeter City. He scored fourteen goals for the youth team during the 2022–23 campaign, earning a spot on the substitutes’ bench for a Premier League game against Brentford, though he did not play.
Dacosta is qualified to represent Spain by virtue of his birth, Ecuador by virtue of his mother and father, respectively, Equatorial Guinea by virtue of his mother, Colombia by virtue of his maternal grandfather, and England by virtue of his long-term residence in the nation.
