All-time Career of Michael Keane

Keane was born in Stockport and had played football for South Manchester since he was a young child. He then joined the Manchester United Academy in 2009, a prestigious club. He was promoted to the senior team on January 11, 2011, after spending two consecutive seasons in the club’s youth ranks.

Keane has played for Ireland at the U-17 and U-19 levels as well as England at the U-19, U-20, and U-21 levels in addition to United’s youth team.

Debut

On October 25, 2011, Keane made his senior team debut against Aldershot Town in an EFL Cup game. He joined the game as a substitute in the 70th minute and helped his team defeat the opposition. He wasn’t added to the squad once more, though, until the FA Cup match against archrival Liverpool on January 28, 2012.

Keane received his first international call-up on October 4, 2016, for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after having a successful youth football career with the Ireland and England teams. However, he didn’t make his debut until March 22, 2017. He had started his first international match, a 1-0 loss to Germany in a friendly match.

Rise to glory

Keane, however, didn’t have many opportunities to play for United at the senior level, but he did play 46 games for the Manchester United U-23 team, contributing 7 goals and 3 assists. Leicester City consequently hired him on a temporary basis. On November 6, 2012, Keane took the field for Leicester City against Bolton Wanderers.

He scored his first goal on February 12 in a 2-1 FA Cup loss to Huddersfield Town. Later, on March 5, he scored an equalizer against Leeds United in the final seconds to earn his team a point.

He spent several years on loan at several different clubs before deciding to join Burnley permanently in January 2015. He had a strong start to the Championship season, scoring twice in the first month and finishing with five goals. Keane scored his first Premier League goal against Watford on September 26, 2016.

He continued to play an important role both during and after the season, and as a result, on April 17, 2017, he was also named as one of the six players shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Club Career

Keane has played for teams other than Manchester United, Leicester City, and Burnley, including Derby County, Everton FC, and Blackburn Rovers.

He joined his current team, Everton, on July 3, 2017, and on August 12, 2017, he made his club debut in a 1-0 victory over Stoke City. A few days later, on August 17, he scored his first goal for Everton in a play-off round first leg against Hajduk Split in the UEFA Europa League.
