Lash Huffman began wrestling in 1989 as Super Collider on the Texas independent circuit. He first feuded with his brother, Booker (who was G.I. He began wrestling for the Global Wrestling Federation as Stevie Ray (named after the musical icons Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles[8]) in a tag team called The Ebony Experience, which was shown on ESPN.[9] They were the “Blackbirds” of Iceman King Parsons and Brickhouse Brown, and they feuded with them. They were three-time GWF Tag Team Champions. Stevie Ray won the GWF North American Heavyweight Championship in 1993.

Wrestling World Championships (1993-2001)

They joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in August 1993 and changed their name to Harlem Heat. Initially, Lash was known as Kane, while Booker was known as Kole. They were then billed as coming from Harlem. They became heels and competed in the War Games at Fall Brawl on September 19, 1993, alongside Vader and Sid Vicious against Sting, Davey Boy Smith, Dusty Rhodes, and The Shockmaster. Shockmaster caused Booker (Kole) to submit, and they lost the bout. They hired Sister Sherri as their manager in 1994 and changed their names back to Booker T. and Stevie Ray. They won the WCW Tag Team Titles for the first time after a feud with Stars and Stripes (The Patriot and Buff Bagwell).

They then feuded with The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobs) and Col. Parker’s “Stud Stable” of Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck, where Parker and Sherri were having an affair. During this time, Stevie and Booker lost the titles to the Nasty Boys, regained them, then lost them again to Slater and Buck. Parker finally became their manager after he left Slater and Buck to be with Sherri. In 1995, the Harlem Heat won the WCW World Tag Team Championship three times, switching belts with the American Males (Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) in the early fall. They had brief feuds with Lex Luger and Sting, switching belts in early 1996, and The Road Warriors before beginning a long feud with Rick and Scott Steiner in 1996.

When Nash used Parker’s cane to attack Stevie, they lost their crowns to The Outsiders, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall in October. They’d then dismiss the Colonel, beat him up, turn around, and engage in a brief feud with Parker’s newest team, The Amazing French Canadians, which they’d win. They had a feud with Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock), The Steiners, and the New World Order in 1997. They sacked Sherri and hired a new manager, Jacqueline, in the summer of 1997. They were briefly rendered inactive by the nWo before resuming their feud with The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian).
