PSG demand €150 million for Kylian Mbappe this summer
Real Madrid have renewed their chase of Kylian Mbappe following reports that the Frenchman is set to quit Paris Saint-Germain.
He informed the club through a letter that he does not intend to renew his contract beyond 2024, forcing them to put him on the market in order to recoup any of the €180 million they spent on him in 2018.
Naturally, Real Madrid was the first team to express interest in his talents. However, according to Julien Laurens, they will have to pay a whopping €150 million to sign him this summer.
PSG are tired of the Mbappe saga every summer and has decided to let him go this time, but rumors say that they will be willing to sell him to any team other than Real Madrid.
Liverpool is one of the other teams vying for Mbappe. They have long admired the star, but will most likely fall behind Real Madrid in his priority list.
Madrid had offered €200 million for Mbappe’s signature, but the Parisian club turned it down. The player ended up accepting a contract extension on what was then the richest contract in football history, but he has no plans to stay in Ligue 1 beyond 2024.
However, there is one obvious flaw in Madrid’s pursuit of Mbappe. The Frenchman prefers to play off the left wing, shifting into the no. 9 position.
Los Blancos already have one of the top players in the world as their left-winger in Vinicius Jr. The question then becomes whether the difference between Vini and Mbappe is significant enough to justify a €150 million price tag.
