Real Madrid will look to keep Brahim Diaz forward if both Asensio and Benzema leave

Brahim Diaz

A week ago, everything appeared to be in order at Real Madrid. With the extensions of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Karim Benzema nearly signed and sealed, the club appeared to be on track to settle on the last terms with Marco Asensio as well.

Fast forward seven days and Los Blancos are in serious trouble, particularly at the center of the field. Karim Benzema is practically boarding the airplane out of Madrid, and Asensio is very close to doing the same.

Carlo Ancelotti currently finds himself short on resources in the final third ahead of the 2023-24 season. According to Tomas Gonzalez Martin’s claims, the club has one replacement available.

According to the Spanish journalist, if both Asensio and Benzema depart Real Madrid in the summer, the club will try to keep Brahim Diaz. After all, the AC Milan star is due to return to the Santiago Bernabeu in June when his loan term in Italy ends.

Diaz has been a frequent starter for Stefano Pioli’s side this season, appearing in 32 games and scoring six goals. In addition, he has seven assists, 1.3 critical passes per game, and 11 huge opportunities this season in the Italian league.

Carlo Ancelotti was initially opposed to bringing back the teenager because he regarded Benzema, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr., and Marco Asensio as options to manage the striker position next season. After all, all four players have demonstrated their worth this season.

With a tempting offer from Saudi Arabia luring him away, Benzema is unlikely to wear the white jersey next season. Asensio, on the other hand, is expected to remain in Europe and join PSG in June.
