Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe back-up plan revealed
Following the departure of Karim Benzema, Real Madrid are in a state of limbo in terms of the striker position.
Kylian Mbappe is expected to join Los Blancos either this summer for a price or next summer for free. However, without certainty, they will need to fill their striker position beyond Joselu Mato and Rodrygo Goes for the upcoming season. They must do it with the knowledge that the position would most likely be open next season, implying that any major investment would be futile.
Los Blancos tested both Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen, according to Cadena SER via Diario AS, but both were eliminated as the asking price was revealed. Pacojo Delgado goes on to reveal that Dusan Vlahovic is currently their third choice.
The young Serbian striker has fallen short of expectations at Juventus, which is aiming to raise funds through sales. Delgado believes that a loan with the opportunity to acquire Vlahovic may benefit both parties.
It would provide Los Blancos with another number nine with excellent upside for the upcoming season, but there would be no contracts. Meanwhile, if the transfer goes well, Juventus and Vlahovic might reset his market worth.
This would obviously depend on how much La Vecchia Signora needs the money this summer. Real Madrid would not have the ideal solution, but they are unlikely to find one. There is no proof that Vlahovic can perform at the required level, but the 23-year-old has the talent to do so.
