Struggling Barcelona star returns to Spain setup for first time in nine months

Spain is preparing for their Nations League semi-final against Italy on June 15th, as manager Luis de la Fuete attempts to right the ship after a devastating defeat to Scotland the previous time out.

After the nature of the setback, de la Fuente appears to be under duress and has made 10 changes to his initial squad for the Nations League. Because Nacho Fernandez has been called up to replace the injured David Garca.

Nico Williams of Athletic Club has also suffered an injury after colliding with Eder Militao on the final day of the season against Real Madrid. According to Sport, de la Fuente has turned to Barcelona forward Ansu Fati to fill his spot.

Williams’ heel soreness is one of several injuries sustained by Athletic on the last day, which also included Inaki Williams, Mikel Vesga, and Yuri Berchiche. None are believed to be serious, but they might keep them out for several weeks.

Ansu was not included in de la Fuente’s initial call-up and may make his first appearance for La Roja since the World Cup. In Qatar, Ansu’s predecessor, Luis Enrique, appeared to have little faith in him, playing him for only 44 minutes across four Spain games.

He has, however, found form in Barcelona’s final two games of the season, scoring three goals against Real Mallorca and Celta Vigo despite only featuring for 106 minutes.
