History of Veer Teja Ji

When Teja Ji once left his sister, he came across a snake. He informed the snake that he would return to it after securely leaving his sister since he had to do so. He leaves his sister and runs into several dacoits along the road. While battling them, he suffers serious injuries. He eventually overcomes them and goes back to the snake.

The fearless Teja Ji offers the snake his tongue for a bite. The snake bestows a blessing on him, promising that anybody who is bitten by a snake will be healed of the poison if they tie a thread in Tejaji’s honor. The serpent is impressed by his bravery and dependability.

Teja Ji Jayanti Celebration

In several locations in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, Teja Dashmi is celebrated with great fervor. Tejaji is thought to treat snake bites and shield users against them. Visitors to the deity’s different shrines present Churma, a meal from Malawi, and ask for his blessings. It is customary to present the deity with Nishans, or vibrant umbrellas.

Veer Teja Dashmi Significance

According to legend, Tejaji perished while defending a herd of livestock from predators. His tongue was the only area of his body unharmed by the struggle. He let a snake bite his tongue as he lay dying. He received the blessing from the snake that no one who sought Tejaji’s blessings would ever perish from a snakebite. If they were bitten by a snake, this blessing would also be given to people who prayed for the well-being of their cattle. Even today, Rajasthanis honor Tejaji by celebrating Teja Dashmi.

Veer Teja Dashmi Cattle Fair

In Parbatsar hamlet of the Nagaur district, Teja ji cattle fair is held in his honor. Bhagwan Shiva is regarded as having taken the form of Veer Tejaji. According to the fair’s folklore, Veer Tejaji belonged to the Jat caste. He was highly courageous, fearless, dedicated to serving others, selfless, and austere.
