CF Montreal was founded in 1993 but later joined the MLS in 2012. The club was referred to as the Montreal Impact until switching its name before the 2021 season. The club has won the Canadian Cup five times, with four of them coming after joining the MLS. Listed below are the best players to play for CF Montreal and their accomplishments with the club.

1. Ignacio Piatti

Ignacio Piatti is the best offensive player in the history of the club, leading Montreal in both goals and assists. Ignacio Piatti played professionally throughout Latin America and Europe before joining CF Montreal in 2014. The left-winger appeared in just six games in 2014 but had five goal contributions. He improved his offense in the following season with nine goals and eight assists.

Piatti had 17 goals and five assists in both 2016 and 2017. The Argenintian’s best year with the club was 2018 when he had 16 goals and eleven assists. Piatti was named the MVP of the Canadian Cup Championship in 2019, as Montreal won the trophy. The winger returned to Argentina after playing in eleven games with the club in 2019, and he retired in the summer of 2022. Piatti appeared in 163 matches across all competitions for the club, which is the sixth-most by a player in Montreal’s history. His 79 goals and 37 assists are both the most by a player for the club.

Di Vaio helped the club win the 2013 Canadian Cup as well. Montreal repeated as the winners of the trophy in 2014 with the Italian still on the roster. The forward had 13 goal contributions that season and retired at the end of the year. Di Vaio finished his tenure with Montreal with 40 goals, which is the second-most by a player for the club.

Bush had five straight seasons between 2015 and 2019 with double-digit wins, including 14 wins in 2018. 2018 was Bush’s best season with the club as he led the MLS in minutes and saves while also posting ten clean sheets, the most in a single season in his career. Bush won his third Canadian Cup in 2019 and departed from the club following that campaign. Bush’s 224 games played for the club are the most by a goalkeeper, as well as more than any other player in Montreal’s history.

The midfielder won MVP of the championship and the trophy again in 2014 while producing eight assists in league play. Mapp appeared in just five games in 2015, which was his last year with the club. The midfielder contributed 24 assists during his time with Montreal, which is tied for second-most by a player in the club’s history.
